Job summary

Southwest Boulder & Stone in Indio, CA is seeking a Commercial Class A Truck Driver/Crane Operator to join our team. This full-time role combines driving with crane operation to support our landscape rock and supply business.

The job requires a valid CA Class A CDL, NCCCO crane certification, medical cert, and a clean MVR. You will deliver material to commercial and residential sites, perform inspections, and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Valid California Class A CDL required.
• Current Medical Examiner’s Certification required.
• NCCCO crane operator certification required.
• Clean MVR; insurable under company policies.
• English reading/writing required; bilingual preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and deliver palletized and loose material to commercial and residential areas.
• Load, chain and secure palletized and loose material on the truck.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report issues.
• Operate crane to load/unload and position heavy materials safely; follow site regulations.

We are looking for a Commercial Class A Truck Driver/Crane Operator to join our team in Indio, CA

Essential Job Functions (Driver):

• Drive single vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more; the operator may tow a vehicle with a GVWR of 10,001 pounds or more.
• Deliver palletized material to both commercial and residential areas.
• Deliver palletized and/or loose material to both commercial and residential areas.
• Load, chain and bind palletized and/or loose material to truck.
• Verify order paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Communicate with dispatch to ensure order is delivered as efficiently as possible.
• Provide excellent customer service and ensure company standards are being upheld.
• Record and report any damage to material and/or equipment.
• Minor vehicle maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions (Crane Operator):

• Drive and operate commercial truck mounted with self-loading crane with telescopic boom to job sites.
• Safely operate crane to load, unload and position heavy materials in designated areas.
• Utilize ground crews to lower and place loads in the correct location.
• Must inspect crane daily and report any irregularities to their supervisor immediately.
• Comply with site and regulatory requirements to support the safe and efficient crane operation and product delivery.
• Comply with Cal/OSHA safety regulations and safe rigging practices
• Inspect job site for overhead power lines, uneven ground and other safety hazards prior to setting up outriggers. Place plates (when needed) under the crane's outrigger pads for stability.
• Come the crane into the correct position and attach and secure loads using the correct equipment while ensuring all loads are within approved limits.
• Properly rig materials using cables, slings and chains; inspect all rigging gear for wear or damage before each lift.
• Complete daily crane inspection reports, delivery tickets, fuel logs and documentation, as required.

Job Requirements:

• Valid California Class A Commercial Driver’s License required
• Current Medical Examiner’s Certification required
• Current Crane Operator's Certificate issued by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO)
• Clean MVR required
• Must be insurable under company’s motor vehicle insurance policies
• Strong knowledge of Cal/OSHA safety regulations and safe rigging practices
• Meet all local, state and federal driving requirements
• Must comply with all DOT requirements
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Bilingual preferred but not required

Education, Experience and Certifications:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving a commercial vehicle.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating truck mounted cranes.
• Previous flatbed experience preferred.
• Equipment hauling experience preferred.
• Local delivery experience preferred.
• Ability to operate forklift and other equipment safely.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
