Job Title:

Journeyman Chiller Technician

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers (100 tons and larger), motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers (a plus).
• Perform rigging tasks as required.
• Support office with repair recommendations from delivery to completion.
• Be available for emergency service calls on a rotating basis.
• Conduct end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance regularly on all associated equipment.
• Ensure maintenance is completed within scheduled timeframes.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of onsite equipment.
• Attend safety meetings and adhere to safety policies.
• Collaborate with the Chiller Field Supervisor on customer opportunities or issues.

Job Specifications

• At least 5 years of work experience at the journeyman level plus technical schooling.
• Experience in commercial/industrial air conditioning required.
• Knowledge of chillers, HVAC, and central plants essential.
• Large tonnage HVAC field experience required.
• Availability for emergency calls on a rotation basis.
• EPA certification required.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation Range: $40 - $90 per hour. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with the collective bargaining agreement.
