Job summary

Wintrust Financial Corporation invites applications for a Commercial Banking Intern position in the Chicago area. The 12-week paid summer internship provides hands-on exposure to credit analysis, loan approvals, and financial statement evaluation.

You will work with commercial banking teams, learn the approval process, and develop skills in financial ratio analysis, collateral review, and credit presentations. Preference is for juniors or seniors studying Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university, with preference for juniors or seniors.
• Concentrations in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with interest in financial analysis and corporate finance.
• Leadership or volunteering experience with results-oriented mindset.
• You must be authorized to work permanently in the U.S. for the duration of the program.
• No immigration sponsorship (including OPT and CPT) for this program.

Responsibilities

• Work with colleagues to meet objectives defined by commercial business lines.
• Learn the approval process for commercial loans.
• Analyze credit and financial information to assess credit risk.
• Generate and interpret financial ratios for evaluating financial condition.
• Spread balance sheets and income statements in financial software.
• Perform collateral analysis and present Credit Approval for reviews.
