Job summary

CTI, a leading Audio Visual provider in New Jersey, is seeking a designer to design complete commercial AV systems and produce clear, buildable drawings. You will create signal flow diagrams and system drawings using Visio or CAD while ensuring alignment with CTI standards and client budgets.

You'll collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD teams, architects, IT and electrical stakeholders to keep designs coordinated, provide technical direction on drawings, and support field teams with

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing commercial AV systems
• Experience creating AV documentation and drawings (Visio/CAD)
• Ability to translate technical needs to non-technical stakeholders
• Collaborative, independent when needed
• Experience coordinating with Sales, PMs, BIM/CAD teams

Responsibilities

• Design complete commercial AV systems (conference rooms, boardrooms, training spaces, enterprise environments)
• Create AV signal flow diagrams, system drawings, and documentation (Visio and/or CAD)
• Review project scope, proposals, and kickoff info—clarify technical requirements and assumptions
• Select AV equipment and define system architecture that aligns with CTI standards, real-world constraints, and budgets
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Managers, BIM/CAD teams, architects, consultants, IT, and electrical stakeholders to keep designs coordinated and buildable
• Provide technical direction and quality assurance on drawings so the field can trust what’s on the page
• Support execution with answers and substitutions: field/programming questions, procurement clarifications, and design updates due to site conditions or product availability
