Job summary

The City of McKinney is seeking an Apprentice Combo Vac Operator to support wastewater and storm water operations. The role offers progression from W1 to W4 based on experience and qualifications, with salary ranges shown.

Under supervision, you will assist with operating the combo truck, perform maintenance, prepare work sites, and respond to emergencies. A CDL with tanker endorsement is required or obtainable within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with tankers endorsement or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.
• Must have Class C Texas Driver’s License.
• Must obtain the NIMS certificate IS-100 and IS-700 within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist with the operation of the Combo Truck.
• Maintain all combo truck equipment (nozzles, wands, vac cans).
• Read and understand GIS maps with supervision.
• Prepare work site and traffic control.
• Respond to emergency sewer/stormwater requests.
