Job summary

Kids for the Future in Texas is seeking a combination inspector to inspect structures, installations and systems at residential and commercial buildings and construction sites, to assure compliance with applicable state and local regulations and standards.

Your responsibilities include inspecting plumbing, electrical and mechanical work, reviewing plans, performing field inspections, verifying workmanship and material quality, and ensuring compliance with codes.

Qualifications

• Interpreting and applying statutes, rules, ordinances, codes and regulations.
• Interpreting building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and zoning regulations, and comparing them with drawings and specs.
• Detecting deviations from plans and regulations.
• Performing inspections for compliance with building and safety codes.
• Organizing and maintaining technical records.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Establishing cooperative working relationships with the public and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting residential and commercial plumbing, electrical and mechanical work for code compliance.
• Reviewing plans and specs to become familiar with projects before inspection.
• Conducting field inspections and evaluating workmanship and material quality.
• Noting deficiencies and referring issues to the supervisor.
• Interpreting City Codes and issuing notices of violation as needed.
• Maintaining inspection records and project documentation.
• Providing information and assistance to the public regarding codes and safety requirements.
• Responding to information requests and coordinating resolutions of conflicts.
