Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a experienced Combination Welder to fabricate prototypes, ground support equipment, and flight production hardware. You will work with stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, nickel, Inconel, and titanium, applying GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW techniques while collaborating with design and production teams.

Candidates should have 7+ years of welding and fabrication experience, be able to interpret engineering drawings, and maintain welding equipment in a fast-paced aerospace

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Combination Welder, responsible for fabricating prototypes, ground support equipment, qualification hardware, and flight production hardware. This role requires expert knowledge of various manufacturing equipment and welding methods, including hand and power tools, bandsaws, grinders, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and OTW. A successful candidate excels at collaborating with design and production teams, interpreting engineering drawings, maintaining equipment and tooling, and using welding processes to build hardware.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welding using various methods, such as GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW
• Achieving various Structural and Aerospace Welding certifications
• Collaborating with design, engineering, and production teams to develop manufacturing projects and processes
• Using hand and power tools, such as saws, drill presses, grinders, and oxy/acetylene torches
• Setting up and maintaining welding equipment and workstations.
• Working with a variety of metals, including Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminum, Nickel, Inconel, and Titanium
• Performing cosmetic welds and weld repairs, including cracks and material build-up
• Strong understanding of Back Purging
• Experience with Orbital Tube Welding and Laser Welding is a plus
• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
• Perform additional job duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or Degree
• 7+ years of experience in Welding and Fabrication, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Ability to interpret schematics and assembly drawings
• Comprehension of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Basic navigation of CAD software, such as Solidworks

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, a shop environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
