Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking an experienced Combination Welder to fabricate prototypes, ground support equipment, qualification hardware, and flight production hardware. The role requires expertise in welding methods (GMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and collaboration with design and production teams to interpret drawings and maintain tooling.

Candidates should have 7+ years in welding/fabrication, knowledge of weld standards, and GD&T.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Degree required; relevant welding training preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in Welding and Fabrication or equivalent mix of education/experience.
• Knowledge of weld standards and aerospace welding practices.
• Direct experience with GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, tools, and fasteners.
• Ability to interpret schematics and assembly drawings.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Basic CAD navigation (SolidWorks or similar).
• Track record of delivering results in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Good judgement for proactive problem solving and meeting tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Welding using GTAW, GMAW, FCAW across prototypes and production parts.
• Achieve structural and aerospace welding certifications.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams on projects.
• Use hand and power tools, including saws, grinders, drills, torches.
• Set up and maintain welding equipment and workstations.
• Work with Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminum, Nickel, Inconel, and Titanium.
• Perform cosmetic welds and repairs, including cracking and buildup.
• Understand back purging and related welding requirements.
• Experience with orbital tube welding and laser welding is a plus.
• Communicate project progress, risks, and milestones to stakeholders.
• Support agile project management practices throughout the lifecycle.

POSITION SUMMARY

Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Combination Welder, responsible for fabricating prototypes, ground support equipment, qualification hardware, and flight production hardware. This role requires expert knowledge of various manufacturing equipment and welding methods, including hand and power tools, bandsaws, grinders, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and OTW. A successful candidate excels at collaborating with design and production teams, interpreting engineering drawings, maintaining equipment and tooling, and using welding processes to build hardware.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welding using various methods, such as GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW
• Achieving various Structural and Aerospace Welding certifications
• Collaborating with design, engineering, and production teams to develop manufacturing projects and processes
• Using hand and power tools, such as saws, drill presses, grinders, and oxy/acetylene torches
• Setting up and maintaining welding equipment and workstations.
• Working with a variety of metals, including Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Aluminum, Nickel, Inconel, and Titanium
• Performing cosmetic welds and weld repairs, including cracks and material build-up
• Strong understanding of Back Purging
• Experience with Orbital Tube Welding and Laser Welding is a plus
• Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
• Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
• Perform additional job duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
