Inspects commercial building construction, renovation in progress and upon completion to verify continuous compliance with approved plans, specifications, applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. Performs inspections, investigates and analyzes problems and recommends solutions for more complex systems and construction; resolves issues relating to code compliance.

Job Description

Employees perform duties which include inspections of commercial buildings in all four areas of construction: structure, electrical, mechanical and plumbing. Employees assume a high level of responsibility and are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to their assigned area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of experience as a Building, Electrical, Mechanical or Plumbing Inspector.
• Possession of International Code Council (ICC) certification in all four inspection areas (building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing) or ICC Combination Inspector from Legacy Codes.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record and ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license within required time frame.

Foreign Education

Applicants using foreign education to meet minimum qualifications must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation from a current NACES or AICE member. Applicants are responsible for all associated costs.

Internal Notice for Teamster Team Members

This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 1 vacancy for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Land Development department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by a full-time non-probationary Teamster team members, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

Work Schedule

This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hours per week), Monday – Thursday or Tuesday - Friday 8 am – 6 pm.

SELECTION PROCESS

3. Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail, Minimum passing score is 75% - All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.

4. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).

5. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre‑employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.

6. Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
