Job summary

People Technology And Processes is seeking a Combatant Craft Mechanic (CCM) at Virginia Beach, VA, supporting CCM maintenance and repair in shipyard and workshop settings. The role requires extensive knowledge of diesel engines, MTU propulsion, hydraulic and electrical systems, and readiness for CONUS/OCONUS deployments.

Candidates should have relevant welding familiarity, ability to read schematics, and possess required licenses including Class A and HAZMAT, along with SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

• Familiar with welding operations and repair procedures.
• Basic understanding of welding processes SMAW, GTAW, GMAW.
• Working knowledge of military publications and technical instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair for diesel engines, MTU propulsion, and related subsystems.
• Assist Government with CCM maintenance and preventative maintenance assessments.
• Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, valves; manage maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory.
• Diagnose failures and repair or adjust ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems.
• Maintain chassis, frames, bodies; use hoists, power tools, gauges and lubricants.
• Perform repairs in shipyard and workshop environments as needed.
• Utilize specialty tools (torque wrenches, timing tools, fuel rack tools, gauges) for maintenance and repair.
• Assist Government personnel in CCM transport and contingency support.
• Deploy with CCM detachments CONUS/OCONUS; maintain passport and SECRET clearance.
• Possess Class A license to operate CCM prime mover with trailer and craft attached.
• Qualify to operate various government vehicles; Class A with HAZMAT; forklift up to 20,000 lb; power plant operation history.
• Coordinate with Troop/Maintenance Chain of Command on CCM safety and operating procedures.
