Position: Combat System Engineer

Location: Washington, DC. This role is 100% allocated toward support of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Germany F‑127 Frigate Programs. Serving as a direct report to the Germany Combat Systems Engineer (CSE), the function primarily supports the U.S. Government Germany Team within PEO IWS 4.0 and covers acquisition and technical support of the Germany Computer Program and supporting hardware.

Functional Description

The selected candidate will work with teammates to support the CSE, coordinating work distribution across the engineering team. Responsibilities include support of the systems engineering process through attendance and participation in technical discussions about integration and testing of systems, review of technical deliverables and documentation, coordination of action items and responses for requests for information, risk management coordination, schedule analysis, and development and maintenance of plans and procedures.

Given the program’s complexity, the hybrid in‑person/remote nature of the team, and the need for organization, daily tasks will require proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite tools for arranging and executing meetings, internal and external communication, and maintaining the Germany Team’s data library.

The position requires both CONUS and OCONUS travel 3‑4 times a year.

Duties
  • Interpersonal and communication skills: oral and written communication that is clear, concise, and context‑appropriate; ability to streamline communications to appropriate entities and keep the client informed daily.
  • Leadership: learns and takes initiative to ask if something needs to be done, is proactive in engaging stakeholders, collaborates with the appropriate stakeholders, and asks if other entities should be involved.
  • Problem solving: self‑motivated to learn and explore tools and systems, and knows when to ask for help; attempts to solve or answer questions independently within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Time management: self‑organizes responsibilities and deadlines, manages meeting times, and ensures meetings start and stop on time.
Job Description
Organization

  • Learn the F‑127 schedule and understand relationships of milestones to dependencies.
  • Understand system security, ITAR, releasability guidelines, and the T&E needed to support the IAFCL testing schedule with ship testing alignment.
