Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Systems Engineer skilled in MATLAB and Python to analyze combat systems data for current and future missile defense platforms. You will collaborate with sponsors and prime contractors to root out performance issues and craft corrective actions, while building domain expertise in Aegis decision algorithms.

Applicants should hold a BS or higher in a relevant engineering or scientific field, have 2+ years of combat systems data

Qualifications

  • Develop novel techniques to improve analysis processes and anomaly identification.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Validate system performance for current and future Integrated Air and Missile Defense Systems through analysis of ground test, flight test, and operational data.
  • Develop novel techniques to improve analysis processes and anomaly identification.
  • Collaborate closely with sponsors and prime contractor representatives to conduct the root cause analysis of performance deficiencies and develop corrective actions.
  • Develop domain expertise and acquire deep knowledge of Aegis command‑and‑decision algorithms, and IAMD concepts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possess a BS Degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or a comparable academic background.
  • Have 2+ years of experience conducting combat systems engineering and/or analysis of missile defense system test data.
  • Have strong skills in programming in MATLAB and/or Python.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and ultimately a Final Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have previous experience working in DoD/DoW or for a DoD/DoW prime contractor.
  • Are familiar with systems engineering processes and influencing system design.
  • Have previous experience working with data from the Aegis Weapon System.
  • Hold an active Secret or higher security clearance.

Compensation

Minimum Rate: $100,000 Annually

Maximum Rate: $245,000 Annually
