Job summary

DC Army National Guard Combat Engineers design and build bridges, roads, secure perimeters, and set up tactical firing systems while ensuring the safety of their team. They also detect and neutralize mines and other dangers to safeguard missions and teammates.

Training spans 10 weeks of Basic Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with hands-on construction experience during on‑the‑job projects. A civilian career path in construction is supported by the Guard's benefits.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in Army National Guard.
• Must be between ages 17 and 35.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.

Responsibilities

• Construct fighting positions, fixed/floating bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions.
• Place and detonate explosives.
• Conduct route clearance of obstacles and rivers.
