Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Combat Engineer to design and build bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems while protecting fellow Soldiers.

You will learn demolitions, obstacle construction, and heavy equipment operation through 10 weeks of Basic Training and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, with paid training and tuition assistance. This role also offers a path to civilian construction careers and benefits.

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details).

Responsibilities

• Construct fighting positions, fixed/floating bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions
• Place and detonate explosives
• Conduct operations that include route clearance of obstacles and rivers
