Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh's McCandless location is hiring an experienced Medical Assistant to support the Colorectal Surgery Department. This patient-facing role combines independent work with teamwork in a fast-paced specialty environment.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 32 hours per week, with no weekends, holidays, overnights, or on-call. Candidates should have a high school diploma and strong computer/medical terminology skills; Epic Care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience with medical records systems and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient records with HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Process lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
• Schedule appointments and verify patient demographics.
• Prepare and manage patient charts and front desk tasks.
• Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
• Ensure OSHA/CLIA compliance and restock supplies.
