Job summary

The Arizona Department of Water Resources seeks a Water Resources Supervisor for the Colorado River Section, located in Phoenix with hybrid work options. The role focuses on policy, modeling, and negotiations at state and federal levels to shape Colorado River management strategies.

Ideal candidates will have extensive knowledge of water policy, hydrology, and data translation into actionable policy, with a minimum two days on-site per week and the ability to collaborate across divisions and

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of professional-level water resources management experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree plus six years of related experience; OR
  • Master’s degree plus four years of related experience; OR
  • Doctorate plus two years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials to support the agency Director’s participation in high-level policy meetings and programs with the federal government and Basin States.
  • Provide Colorado River strategic policy analysis and recommendations to the Director.
  • Prepare presentations, reports and testimony for committees, boards and commissions.
  • Assist in communications and public-facing content for the Director’s office.
  • Monitor and staff the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Program.
  • Supervise staff including the Contracts and Entitlements Specialist handling conveyance applications.
