Job summary

St. Pius X High School seeks a Color Guard Director to lead artistic, instructional, and organizational aspects of the color guard program in collaboration with the Band Director and Fine Arts Department.

You will train students in movement, choreography, and equipment technique, establish standards, and support guard culture while prioritizing safety and growth. This is a seasonal role aligned with football and spring guard schedules.

Qualifications

• Commitment to embrace the Catholic Mission and Dominican Charism.
• Completion of Safe Haven environment training.
• Bachelor's in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct all rehearsals for the color guard during marching band season and winter guard.
• Develop and teach choreography, movement, and equipment technique.
• Establish performance standards, rehearsal expectations, and guard culture.
• Provide skill-appropriate instruction for students of varying experience levels.
• Support student leadership within the guard.
• Promote safety, proper technique, and injury prevention.
• Encourage confidence, discipline, collaboration, and accountability.
• Prepare the guard for football games, pep rallies, parades, competitions, and other performances.
• Attend all performances and competitions.
• Collaborate with the Band Director on show design, drill, and visual concepts.
• Work closely with the Band Director, Fine Arts staff, and administration.
• Communicate expectations, schedules, and needs clearly with students and families.
• Participate in planning meetings as needed.
• Support uniform, equipment, and costuming needs.
• Maintain attendance and rehearsal records.
• Help coordinate volunteers, chaperones, and event logistics when needed.
