Job summary

Bridge Los Angeles seeks a part-time Color Guard Coach at John F. Kennedy High School to choreograph flag work, design the visual presentation of routines, and lead after-school rehearsals under the JFK Music Department.

You will collaborate with Mr. Ibarra, ensure safe handling of equipment, and support performances at games and competitions; the stipend is $2,000 per semester ($4,000 for the 2026–2027 year), with schedule set by the music team.

Qualifications

  • Prior color guard and/or winter guard experience.
  • Experience with flag work; rifle and/or sabre experience a plus.
  • Ability to teach high school students across skill levels.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a background check (Livescan) and provide TB clearance per LAUSD requirements.
  • Reliability for after-school hours, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Choreograph and teach flag work (and rifle/sabre where applicable).
  • Design and coordinate visual elements of routines (formations, color, aesthetic).
  • Collaborate with Mr. Ibarra to align guard design with the music program.
  • Provide instruction and supervision during after-school rehearsals.
  • Support performances at football games, competitions, and other events.
  • Maintain safe rehearsal and performance environments and proper equipment handling/storage.
  • Track dates and hours of service for billing/recordkeeping.
  • Communicate scheduling and progress with Mr. Ibarra.
