Job summary

Owen County Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in directing intramural and interscholastic athletics. The role includes enforcing sports rules, coordinating practices, and promoting a positive athletic culture within the school and community.

The successful candidate will work under the principal, participate in event planning, ensure safety, and help manage equipment and facilities for all athletic programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred experience working with children.
• Must pass criminal background check and CAN check.
• Must meet qualifications required by the KHSAA.
• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Preferred substantial knowledge of sport technical aspects and ongoing study.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach and provide support as needed.
• Know and apply system, state and league regulations; interpret for staff.
• Follow proper chain of command and attend required meetings.
• Prepare for sports events or practices; coordinate with maintenance and staff.
• Maintain open communication with student-athletes, parents, and administrators.
• Safeguard and manage equipment; oversee inventory and upkeep.
• Assist in facility cleanliness and equipment organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
