Job summary

Amazon Colo Security Engineering is seeking an Architect to lead security designs for Colocation DCs across the Americas, shaping secure, cost-efficient data center facilities. You will work with AWS security teams and Colo vendor partners to drive design standards and deployment, with significant travel.

The role requires strong engineering and security background and experience translating complex designs into implementable solutions, including CPTED concepts and security drawings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• 4+ years of commissioning experience in related facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of physical security engineering experience in industrial or commercial facilities.
• 2+ years of physical security engineering experience in mission critical facilities including data centers and power facilities.
• Experience carrying security design concepts through exploration to deployment.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings and submittal documents.
• Experience working with and managing third party vendors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates) for Colo DC projects.
• Collaborate with security organizations within AWS to develop design standards and evaluate cost/benefit.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal and external stakeholders and consultants.
• Maintain basis of design documents, prototype design, and template specifications for Colo security elements.
• Create security design scope of work for Colo DC project RFPs.
• Review and direct work of Colo security design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments and design reviews; anticipated travel up to 50%.
