Job summary

AWS Colo Physical Security Engineer [Architect] leads security designs for Colocation DCs across the Americas, partnering with AWS security teams and Colo Vendor partners to ensure safe, resilient data centers while applying physical security standards globally.

This role requires expertise in security concepts, construction drawings, and managing multiple projects with travel up to 50% to sites and design reviews.

Qualifications

• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
• 6+ years of physical security engineering in industrial or commercial facilities.
• 2+ years of physical security engineering in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas.
• Experience carrying physical security design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Experience working with third party vendors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements for Colo DC projects.
• Collaborate with security organizations within AWS to develop design standards and evaluate costs and benefits.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal and external stakeholders and consultants.
• Maintain basis of design documents, prototype design, and template specifications for Colo physical security elements.
• Create security design scope of work for Colo DC project RFPs.
• Review and direct the work of Colo physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously; travel for site assessments and meetings (up to 50%).
