Summary
12-to-24-month program (2,100 Hours) either following or in tandem with attending an ASE Certified or I-Car certified collision school. During the program the apprentice will work either full or part time and, Works as a Lube Technician in a service shop or Collision Apprentice in a Collision Center in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

Compensation
- Hourly rate. while in program, Transitioning to Flat Rate upon completion and assignment as a C Level Tech or Collision Technician
- Company provided tools will not need to be paid for after working 525 hours while participating in the Apprentice program.
- Flexible schedule around school schedule if Part Time.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The program will consist of 4 segments of 525 hours and Apprentice will receive a performance evaluation at the end of each segment. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Service Technician Apprentice Essential Duties
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards during both phases of training plan.
- Phase One (First 1050 Hours or till signed off as proficient by shop foreman)
- Sells lubrication, safety inspection, and other related services.
- Maintains records on regular customers, following up periodically with telephone, mail, or personal reminders.
- Drains oil from crankcase and refills with required amount of oil.
- Replaces oil and air filters.
- Inspect vehicle fluid levels, replaces, or replenishes as necessary.
- Checks tire pressure and add air if needed.
- Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Documents all the work performed on the repair order.
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs as assigned by service manager.
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Phase Two Under the supervision of Shop Foreman, (Second 1050 Hours or till signed off as proficient by shop foreman)
- Diagnoses the cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
- Completes 360 Inspection.
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notify the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Road-test vehicles to check quality work performed.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Follow safety guidelines from CDC, OSHA, and Health Department.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
MARGINAL DUTIES
- Marginal duties may be assigned.
- Maintain professional appearance.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must maintain a valid Driver's License that meets dealership insurability requirements throughout the program and throughout employment.
- COLLISION APPRENTICE: I-Car Certifications is required, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is recommended UPON COMPLETION OF PROGRAM
- TECHNICIAN APPRENTICE: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and Manufacturer specific certifications are required UPON COMPLETION OF PROGRAM
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to sit and stand repeatedly without restrictions for up to an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to enter and exit vehicles with no restrictions.
- Some heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds) may be required as needed.
- Other physical duties may be assigned.
