Job summary

Gerber Collision & Glass in Ames, IA is seeking a Porter to support repairs by cleaning customer vehicles before delivery and maintaining shop and office cleanliness. This role emphasizes teamwork and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

The Porter will perform interior and exterior vehicle cleans, prepare vehicles for delivery, and assist with moving vehicles to sublet locations as needed. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with a valid driver's license and a strong

• Automotive experience preferred.
• Clear close vision required.
• 18 years or older; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Maintain the daily housekeeping of the office interior, including garbage, floors, and counters.
• Maintain the daily housekeeping of the production area interior, waste disposal, tools, and parts.
• Keep parking lots and grounds neat and orderly; shovel sidewalks when needed.
• Pre-washes customer vehicles before repairs begin; perform exterior and interior cleanup after repairs.
• Transport customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs.

Job Description

The Porter complements quality repairs by cleaning customer vehicles prior to vehicle delivery. Maintains the appearance and cleanliness of shop and office facilities.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
• Maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the office, including daily emptying of garbage cans, cleaning the floors, and dusting the countertops and work area.
• Maintain the daily housekeeping of the interior of the production area, emptying of waste cans, sweeping the floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and placing tools and equipment in their proper location.
• Maintain parking lots and grounds in a neat and orderly fashion, including shoveling sidewalks when necessary
• Pre-washes customer vehicles prior to repairs beginning.
• Exterior and interior cleanup of customer vehicles after repairs are complete
• Transport of customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs

Education And/or Experience Required

• High School diploma / GED preferred
• Ability to multitask
• Automotive experience preferred
