Position Description: Manages all aspects of the business and escalates employee issues to HR. This position requires a person that employees respect and follow to ensure a great culture in the business.
Essential Duties:
- Manages and performs estimating, blueprinting, and quality control of vehicles.
- Ensure that road tests and Quality Control forms have been completed on all vehicles being delivered.
- Monitors all estimates to ensure proper GP is being obtained and all necessary operations are included in the estimate.
- Schedules vehicle repairs to ensure balanced workload in the shop.
- Conducts team meetings as required and ensure production reports are updated daily and distributed to employees.
- Manages aged receivables and billing.
- Ensure parts procurement and returns are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manages employee attendance, workloads, and monitors their performance.
- Assists in developing or refining standard operating procedures as required.
- Follows and complies with all required health and safety requirements.
- Identifies parts to be repositioned, removed and reinstalled, removed and replaced, or repaired.
- Utilizes computerized estimating system CCC1, Smart Start, and Alldata to develop repair plans and cost estimates.
- Selects appropriate part types for the vehicle, customer, and shop.
- Ensures compliance with internal and insurance company estimating rules.
- Ensure all estimators complete and submit cost of repairs and supplements to insurance companies to meet fleet and insurance requirements, typically within two business days.
- Maintains an average closing percentage of 60% of estimates.
- Ensures parts, paint, and material margins are obtained.
- Maintains an acceptable appearance and ensures employees do the same.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions with the estimating and production team.
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledgeable of vehicle construction methods and required repair procedures.
- Skilled in closing sales.
- Skilled in leadership
- Skilled in communicating with customers, vendors, suppliers, and adjusters.
- Skilled in using computerized estimating systems.
- Proficient in basic computer data-entry, Microsoft Office, and internet-based applications.
Working Conditions:
- Work both inside and outside in varying conditions (heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid).
- Exposure to temperature changes, noise, fumes, and mechanical, chemical, or electrical hazards.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions.
- Occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
- Occasionally work on elevated surfaces.
- Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
- May be requested to work long hours and Saturdays.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to view computer monitor.
- Oral communication.
- Ability to continuously stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and squat frequently.
- The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
- Must have good body mechanics and manual dexterity.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, vision.
