Role Description

This full-time, on-site Collision Estimator role is based at AutoNation in Addison, TX. The Collision Estimator is responsible for inspecting vehicles involved in collisions, identifying all visible and hidden damage, and preparing accurate repair estimates in accordance with company and insurance standards. In this role, the estimator regularly communicates with customers to explain repair needs, timelines, and costs, ensuring a clear and positive service experience. The position involves coordinating with technicians, parts departments, and insurance representatives to verify repair plans, order parts, and manage approvals. The Collision Estimator also updates repair orders, tracks job status, and maintains detailed documentation to support efficient, high-quality collision repair operations.

Qualifications

• Strong collision damage assessment and vehicle inspection skills, with the ability to identify structural, mechanical, and cosmetic issues.
• Proficiency with estimating software and repair planning tools, including writing accurate estimates and revising them as needed.
• Solid customer service and communication skills to explain repair processes, manage expectations, and maintain positive relationships.
• Experience working with insurance carriers, including understanding of claim procedures, supplements, and required documentation.
• Knowledge of automotive repair methods, parts, and materials, ideally within a collision center or body shop environment.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple repair orders in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, service advisors, and parts personnel to ensure timely and accurate repairs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or collision estimating training and certifications are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to safely move customer vehicles on-site.
• Commitment to safety practices, ethical conduct, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.
