Job summary

Speedway Collision is seeking an experienced Body Repair Technician to join our Indianapolis team. The Body Repair Technician restores collision-damaged vehicles through safe, accurate repairs, including disassembly, damage analysis, panel repair and replacement, measuring, welding, and refinishing preparation.

You will collaborate with repair planners, estimators, parts personnel, painters, mechanics, and management to identify damage and complete repairs per the approved plan and OEM

Qualifications

  • Professional collision body-repair experience required
  • Knowledge of structural and non-structural repair methods
  • Experience repairing and replacing steel body components
  • Welding, panel replacement, metal straightening, and component R&I experience
  • Ability to read estimates, repair plans, OEM procedures, and specifications
  • Ability to use frame and vehicle-measuring equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality repairs
  • Ability to identify hidden damage and communicate findings
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to provide and maintain required hand tools

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and disassemble vehicles to identify visible and hidden damage
  • Review repair plans, estimates, work orders, and OEM procedures
  • Perform structural and non-structural repairs
  • Repair or replace sheet metal, body panels, bolt-on parts, welded panels, and structural components
  • Measure vehicles and verify structural dimensions
  • Perform metal straightening, dent repair, panel alignment, and fit adjustments
  • Use approved welding, brazing, riveting, and adhesive-bonding methods when trained and required
  • Perform and document destructive test welds when required
  • Remove and reinstall trim, glass, lamps, interior parts, electrical components, and related items
  • Restore corrosion protection, seam sealer, cavity wax, adhesives, foams, and coatings according to OEM procedures
  • Protect vehicle interiors, electronics, adjacent panels, and customer belongings
  • Identify additional damage and promptly notify the repair planner
  • Document repairs, measurements, required parts, and supplemental damage
  • Verify panel fit, gaps, body lines, weld quality, and repair accuracy
  • Coordinate with the paint department to prepare vehicles for refinishing
  • Participate in quality-control inspections and correct identified concerns
  • Safely operate frame equipment, welders, lifts, measuring systems, and power tools
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow company safety procedures and environmental regulations
  • Participate in ongoing technical, OEM, I-CAR, and safety training
  • Perform other collision-repair duties as assigned

JOB SUMMARY

The Body Repair Technician restores collision-damaged vehicles through safe, accurate, and efficient repairs. Work includes disassembly, damage analysis, panel repair and replacement, structural measuring, welding, adhesive bonding, corrosion protection, component removal and installation, and preparation for refinishing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Structural repair and electronic-measuring experience
  • Aluminum-repair experience or certification
  • Experience with squeeze-type resistance spot welding and OEM joining methods
  • Experience with hybrid, electric, or ADAS-equipped vehicles
  • Familiarity with CCC ONE or similar software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, safely lift and move automotive parts and equipment, operate shop equipment, work in normal collision-repair conditions, and wear required protective equipment.
