Job summary

Speedway Collision is seeking an experienced Collision Center Mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical components damaged in collisions. You’ll work with estimators, body techs, parts personnel, and management to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient repairs following OEM procedures.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous automotive mechanical or collision-repair experience required.
  • Knowledge of suspension, steering, cooling, A/C, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic abilities.
  • Experience removing and reinstalling major vehicle components.
  • Comfortable using scan tools and computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow OEM repair procedures and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to meet repair deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles for visible and hidden collision-related mechanical damage.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, suspension, steering, cooling, and drivability concerns.
  • Remove and reinstall engines, transmissions, suspension, cooling systems, A/C components, exhaust systems, interior components, and related assemblies.
  • Repair or replace damaged suspension, steering, wheel-hub, cooling, electrical, and mechanical components.
  • Perform pre-repair and post-repair diagnostic scans when assigned.
  • Assist with alignments, suspension measurements, and mechanical inspections.
  • Evacuate, recover, recharge, and test automotive A/C systems when properly certified.
  • Evacuate and refill fluids, bleed systems, and perform operational testing.
  • Identify additional damage and promptly report findings to the estimator or repair planner.
  • Document diagnostic results, measurements, completed repairs, and required parts.
  • Review work orders and follow OEM procedures and technical information.
  • Conduct quality-control inspections and verify affected systems operate properly.
  • Maintain and protect customer vehicles during the repair process.
  • Safely operate tools, lifts, diagnostic systems, and measuring equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Communicate professionally and work collaboratively with all departments.
  • Participate in ongoing technical and safety training.
  • Perform other collision-related mechanical duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Collision Center Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, removes, installs, and repairs mechanical components affected by collision damage. Work may include suspension, steering, cooling, air-conditioning, exhaust, drivetrain, electrical systems, interior components, and related vehicle systems.

You will work with estimators, repair planners, body technicians, parts personnel, and management to identify accident-related damage and ensure repairs are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Collision-center mechanical experience
  • ASE or I-CAR certifications
  • EPA Section 609 A/C certification
  • Alignment and suspension diagnostic experience
  • Experience with ADAS-equipped, hybrid, or electric vehicles
  • Familiarity with CCC ONE or similar collision-management software
Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, safely lift and move automotive parts and equipment, operate vehicle lifts, work in normal shop conditions, and wear required personal protective equipment.
