Job summary

Providence College seeks an athletic coach to assist in the instruction and training of student-athletes, focusing on sport-specific skills, game tactics, and academic advising. The role involves recruitment, conditioning programs, and collaboration with the Academic Services Office to support student-athlete success.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree, significant intercollegiate playing and coaching experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field from an accredited institution required
  • Significant intercollegiate playing and coaching experience in sport required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • First aid and CPR Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop game and practice plans; coach student-athletes in sport-specific skills and tactics in one-on-one, small group, and large group sessions.
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes within NCAA guidelines; assess abilities and advise Head Coach for recruitment decisions.
  • Assist in oversight of the Taylor Natatorium: supervise lifeguards, test water quality, coordinate facility maintenance, manage events.
  • Assess athletes’ ability to apply sport-specific skills after instruction; utilize video review and on-field practice sessions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor conditioning programs; counsel injured athletes and support rehabilitation.
  • Serve as liaison to the Office of Academic Services; advise on academic standing and related issues.
  • Arrange procurement of needed equipment or services to support training and education.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices in sport-specific skills and fitness through seminars and instructional materials.
  • Perform other duties as required.
