Job summary

IDEA Public Schools recruits tutors to support students in Road to and Through College classrooms, providing targeted instruction, practice, and one-on-one guidance with a focus on college readiness.

Role emphasizes using technology to boost achievement, maintaining a consistent behavior system, and collaborating with the College counseling team. Expected on-site presence is 10–20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college credits with a 2.5 GPA or two years of full-time instructional experience in a K-12 setting.
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of subject area and creative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and use technology to improve student achievement and manage tasks.
• Implement a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Help shape a positive school culture and productive learning environment.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Identify concepts to teach or reteach from student notes and discussions.
• Familiarize with RTTC Libraries and curriculum materials.
• Conduct tutoring sessions in math, science, language arts, and humanities.
• Lead mini-lessons on writing across subjects and study skills.
• Support writing processes from brainstorming to editing.
• Communicate progress with College counseling team regarding concerns.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet student needs.
• Commit to 10–20 hours per week on-site.
