Job summary

University of Texas in Houston is seeking a UT GEAR UP Mindset College Ready Site Coordinator for Aldine ISD. The role focuses on supporting GEAR UP students with academic counseling, mentoring, college awareness, admissions, and financial aid guidance, in collaboration with middle and high school staff.

You will plan and implement college readiness activities, monitor progress, and help families navigate admissions processes while coordinating with district partners to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, public administration, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred; bilingual/bicultural (Spanish) fluency/knowledge is a plus.
• Strong ability to communicate with students, parents, and school staff verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic enrichment, mentoring, tutoring, and advising before, during, and after school.
• Monitor student grades, attendance, and transcripts to promote timely graduation and coursework rigor.
• Coordinate college awareness activities and access to counselors at school/district levels.
• Provide one-on-one admissions and financial aid advice to GEAR UP students and families.
