Job summary

Mercer University TRIO Programs seeks an Educational Advisor on the Macon campus to provide academic, career, and personal guidance to first‑generation, low‑income students. You will supervise peer mentors and run seminars, workshops, tutoring, and field trips in line with grant requirements.

You will also assist in recruitment, program evaluation, and support for the summer residential program, which may include overnight duties. A bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; experience in tutoring, instruction, academic advising.
• Experience monitoring participants' academic progress and career development and providing instruction or support for varied learning styles.
• Valid driver’s license and be insurable by the university’s carrier.
• Proficiency with basic computer software applications including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, career, and personal guidance to eligible first‑generation, low‑income students to increase secondary and postsecondary enrollment.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate services to foster academic achievement and college readiness.
• Coordinate advising, tutoring, peer mentoring, workshops, and field trips per grant requirements.
• Deliver primary advisement to participants, teach grade‑level seminar classes, and lead workshops.
• Supervise student peer mentors and coordinate recruitment/outreach to target schools.
• Support the summer residential program, including overnight responsibilities when required.
