Updating college preparation and advising lessons for 9th and 10th grade students. Hosting virtual college preparation advising sessions on a monthly basis. Training and assisting students/families to complete college readiness activities, such as pre-college, internship, and scholarship applications. Planning the in-person Super Saturday school-year project-based learning sessions for 9th and 10th graders. Enlisting and training volunteers. Providing professional learning for school-year program facilitators and volunteers. Supporting the execution of college prep program events, such as our college tours, college fairs, career explorations and workshops, and various summer programming Co-planning the College Prep in-person summer experiences for rising 10th-grade scholars Collecting and monitoring data related to program effectiveness, student participation, and overall satisfaction Participating in program team meetings focused on school year and summer programming, student/parent engagement, and data monitoring Researching college admissions trends, scholarships, and educational opportunities. Adhering to all policies about the program to ensure the safety of all students Engaging in continuous professional learning opportunities and applying new knowledge to increase student achievement and engagement
The College Prep Programs Grade Level AmeriCorps Member position is an entry-level service opportunity for recent college graduates or current graduate students with a background or interest in school counseling, secondary education, or education policy.
