Internship Program Overview

Hyatt Vacation Ownership offers a comprehensive internship program at one of our resort locations, available in 3‑ or 6‑month durations. The program is built around the following core pillars:

  • In‑person, on‑site work experience within a designated department.
  • Personalized guidance and support from experienced property leaders.
  • Exclusive sessions with senior company executives for strategic insights.
  • A day of shadowing a different department to broaden your understanding of resort operations.
  • Two interviews with senior leaders to learn about their career journeys.
  • A meaningful project that encourages creativity and contributes to business innovation.
  • Interactive online sessions providing exposure to various areas of the HVO business.
  • Connection with fellow interns through a dedicated internship social media platform.
Internship Program Requirements
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fully on‑site internship at one of the designated HVO resort locations.
  • Active pursuit of a college degree at any level.
  • Preference for majors in Hospitality or Business Management; other disciplines are encouraged.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required, depending on role scope.
Internship Timelines
  • Spring: January – April
  • Summer: May – August

  • West Region – Escondido, CA (Summer)
  • West Region – Breckenridge, CO (Summer)
  • West Region – Sedona, AZ (Summer)
  • West Region – San Antonio, TX (Spring, Summer)
  • Housing accommodations and relocation are the student’s responsibility.
Internship Resort Operations Position Descriptions
Housekeeping
  • Learn villa cleaning, guest room standards, and core housekeeping tasks.
  • Understand roles and responsibilities of other housekeeping positions.
  • Participate in room inspections and inventory control.
  • Collaborate with other departments to prepare for guest arrivals.
Food & Beverage
  • Rotate through various food outlets based on property size and offerings.
  • Gain front and back‑of‑house experience in roles such as server, food prep/cook, expeditor, and bar staff.
  • Learn inventory control, order placement, and responsible alcohol handling.
  • Partner with Recreation for themed events, holidays, and property celebrations.
Safety & Security
  • Learn guest relations, loss prevention, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in activities such as property walks, pool safety monitoring, and lock issue resolution.
  • Manage parking areas and lost‑and‑found items.
  • Understand the full scope of maintaining resort safety and welcoming environment.
Front Office
  • Apply brand‑standard welcoming techniques for an exceptional guest experience.
  • Assist guests during check‑in and check‑out processes.
  • Handle daily front desk tasks, resolve issues, and serve as a resource for guest requests.
  • Learn differences between ownership and nightly reservations, and observe the pre‑arrival process.
  • Familiarize with room locations and assignment procedures.
Recreation/Activities
  • Promote resort activities to guests of all ages.
  • Lead games, trivia, pool events, and educational programs.
  • Assist with special events such as food tastings and storytelling.
  • Coordinate health and fitness, childcare, and team leadership areas.

Interns must be able to reach overhead and below knee level and perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. They must also be capable of standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods. The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 10 pounds (25 pounds for Housekeeping) without assistance is required.

For Internships in Colorado, the wage range is $20.00–$21.50 per hour depending on location and department. For Internships in California, the wage range is $17.75–$20.05 per hour, with Food & Beverage positions at $17.75 plus tips.
