Job summary

Options for Youth invites educators who are energetic and authentic to join our California network of free public charter schools. The Certificated counselor position supports post-secondary planning and coordinates district ROP and vocational programs while guiding students toward graduation and college readiness.

The ideal candidate will hold a BA/BS and a valid California PPS credential in School Counseling, with a commitment to equity and a passion for helping students succeed in college and

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required.
• California PPS credential in School Counseling required or credentialed.

Responsibilities

• Meets one-on-one with students (and parents) to discuss post-secondary goals and helps teachers create individualized plans.
• Coordinates quarterly workshops or seminars to inform students and teachers of post-secondary options.
• Creates hand-outs/posters about requirements for options and updates on financial aid and scholarships.
• Keeps knowledge of UC A-G requirements and communicates with students and teachers.
• Tracks senior credit progression monthly and reports postsecondary data to leadership.
• Provides resources for SAT/ACT preparation; may facilitate SAT/ACT prep on-site and maintains testing calendar.
