Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Project Advisor to prepare participants for high school graduation and postsecondary education. You will coordinate tutoring, provide college and career advising, monitor academic achievement, and organize college tours to help at-risk students succeed.

The role requires on-site work at high schools in the Los Angeles area, with responsibilities including data entry, weekly evaluations, and collaboration with VOALA staff to improve graduation

Qualifications

Must pass fingerprint clearance/background check
TB clearance within 6 months prior
Ability to work under emotional stress with at-risk students

Responsibilities

Recruit, enroll, and advise students at assigned high school
Provide academic advising and career planning
Plan college visits and workshops on college planning and financial literacy
Coordinate tutoring resources and monitor student progress
Prepare weekly evaluations and program reports
Maintain student records and privacy
Collaborate with VOALA programs and external partners

Skills

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Ability to handle challenging clients

Education

Bachelor's degree in education, social work, counseling

Master's degree in education, social work or counseling
