Reporting Structure
The College and Career Coordinator shall report to the principal and has an indirect reporting relationship to the Assistant Superintendent of Affective Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with the college application process, including choices, applications, fee waivers, etc.
- Ensure 100% of seniors are accepted into four year colleges/universities.
- Develop relationships with colleges and universities' admissions officers and staff.
- Track admissions, scholarship receipts, and graduate persistence in college.
- Provide elective support- i.e. College essay writing, Naviance, Common app, admissions requirements, financial aid requirements.
- Assist administration with transcript distribution.
- Schedule and conduct mock interviews with scholars as practice for college admissions interviews.
- Assist in execution of college entrance and procedures.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate college trips, including visiting college fairs with students.
- Plan and conduct Career Days and College Fairs at the the school.
- Schedule visits by representatives from local colleges.
- Provide information concerning scholastic aptitude and achievement tests; assist scholars with applications and scheduling; distribute test results as appropriate.
- Obtain, organize, file, and display college materials; catalog and prepare for use by students; maintain displays and bulletin boards.
- Plan and collaborate with team/advisors college culture activities such as college decision day, home-coming events, etc.
- Schedule financial aid meetings for scholars and families and work with families to determine the most appropriate school placement.
- Support college partnership relationships.
- Support in the development and execution of a Capital Prep alumni network that will provide information, support, and educational resources to our current scholars and families.
- Provides assistance and information concerning college entrance and scholarships to scholars, parents, staff, and community agencies.
- Develops materials related to career/college opportunities for high school students.
- Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration.
Skills And Knowledge Required
- Career and occupational resources, trends, and opportunities.
- College entrance requirements and procedures.
- Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Telephone techniques and etiquette.
- Basic research methods.
- College admission requirements, financial aid requirements, and training necessary for future careers.
- Ability to work effectively with others and under the direction of others.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning;
- Regular attendance and punctuality;
- Ability to take initiative;
- Willingness to be collaborative and flexible, committed to self-improvement and holding self to the highest of expectations;
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience/Training
- Naviance, Common App, FAFSA.gov, and College Board experience.
- Experience with assessing college applications and managing deadlines for scholars.
- Strong computer experience.
- Strong presentation experience.
Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package.
This is an in-person, full-time, full-year exempt position. This position is vacation eligible.
Occasional nights and weekends may be required.
