Job summary

UAH College of Business seeks a GEAR UP Coordinator to provide site-based support for middle and high school students in Limestone and Marshall counties. You will deliver advising, coordinate college readiness programs, supervise site staff, and collaborate with schools, families, and community partners to remove barriers to postsecondary success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience delivering grant‑funded youth initiatives.
• Alabama driver’s license for youth transportation.

Responsibilities

• Direct Student Advising & College/Career Readiness - 35%.
• Deliver targeted academic, career, and financial literacy advising and FAFSA support.
• Provide individual and group academic support and explore postsecondary pathways.
• Develop and deliver classroom lessons and six‑week summer camp curricula.
• Support participant recruitment and eligibility determination with an active caseload.
• On‑Site Program Logistics & Event Coordination - 25%.
• Plan, organize, and execute site activities, campus visits, career fairs, and family nights.
• Coordinate logistics for off-site events and summer academies.
• Site Leadership, Personnel Oversight & Collaboration - 20%.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise site staff; facilitate monthly meetings.
• Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians.
