Job summary

CHESS is seeking a TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Advisor to provide college access services for new and stop-out students aiming for 2- or 4-year colleges. You will serve San Juan County with some travel, maintain a participant caseload, and contribute to recruitment and program objectives.

The role involves FAFSA assistance, financial aid guidance, and workshops on college readiness. Travel within the service area and collaboration with schools and community partners are expected.

• Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
• Ability to manage participant caseloads, electronic records, workshops, and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and develop effective community partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and implements recruitment and advising booths at local schools and community centers.
• Documents participant eligibility and maintains supporting records.
• Guide participants to complete a secondary diploma or its equivalent.
• Conducts regular participant follow-up to support enrollment and financial aid steps.
• Enters participant services and outcomes into the program database, maintaining confidentiality.
• Provides FAFSA assistance and explains verification and financial aid requirements.
• Develops and presents workshops on college readiness and financial aid.
• Conducting initial client interviews.
• Assisting students in completing admissions and financial aid applications.
• Builds relationships with adult education programs, workforce agencies and schools.
• Supports the EOC Director in tracking program performance and grant reporting.
