Job summary

JCYC in San Francisco is seeking a High School Educational Advisor to recruit, identify, and counsel participants at Philip and Sala Burton Academic High School in the SF Unified School District. The role emphasizes college access and supportive guidance for youth.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s Degree and experience with youth, strong organization and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and Google Apps.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and some experience working with youth.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with conducting presentations and activity planning.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with MS Word and Excel; knowledge of PowerPoint, Zoom and Google Apps.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, identify, and select participants according to eligibility guidelines.
  • Provide college and career counseling to individuals and groups.
  • Coordinate local and long-distance field trips; organize overnight trips as needed.
  • Assist participants with re-enrollment processes and referrals to social services.
  • Present financial aid and college information when requested.
  • Actively recruit students and participate in JCYC program events.
