Job summary

Northfield Hospital + Clinics is seeking a Collections Specialist to assist patients with billing statements by phone or email. You will pursue collection of co-pays, deductibles, and uninsured balances, guiding accounts through the aging process in our system.

This full-time, on-site role in Northfield, MN requires strong communication in English and prior healthcare billing or collections experience. We offer competitive pay and benefits as part of our healthcare team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive and call patients to collect on outstanding balances and set up payment plans.
• Coordinate with Collection Agency to ensure accurate balances and reports.
• Enter and update claims in Revenue Recapture Portal and resolve statute of limitations issues.
• Assess Financial Assistance eligibility and communicate determinations to patients.
• Process bankruptcy notifications and update system accordingly.
• Handle return mail and update addresses as needed.
• Review credit balances and determine refunds or transfers.
• Prioritize work queues to ensure prompt payment.

Job Summary

The Collections Specialist assists patient and/or client with billing statements via phone, email or other correspondence. Responsible for the collection of patient accounts from co-pays, deductibles, and accounts with no insurance. Guide patient accounts through the aging process within the system to ensure effective and timely collection of outstanding balances.

Compensation

We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $21.92-$30.95. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities

• Receive and place phone calls to patients in order to collect on outstanding account balances. Works with patients to set up acceptable payment plans.
• Works closely with Collection Agency to ensure that all system balances are accurate. This includes payment and adjustment reports, uncollectible accounts and any other reports from the agencies.
• Responsible for entering and updating claims in the Revenue Recapture Portal and resolving accounts that are hitting statute of limitations status.
• Work system queues for Financial Assistance to determine if patients are eligible and communicates necessary information and determinations to patient.
• Responsible for processing bankruptcy notifications and entering needed information into system.
• Responsible for handling return mail and obtaining and updating addresses from invalid address reports.
• Review and/or credit balance accounts and determine the need to transfer balances or request refund checks.
• Manage workload by utilizing the system to prioritize work queues to ensure prompt resolution and payment on accounts.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of healthcare experience
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment
• Experience in medical billing or collections , Preferred

Schedule

• Full-time, 80 hours per two-week pay period
• Monday-Friday Business Hours
• On-site in Northfield, MN
