Job summary

7 17 Credit Union seeks an experienced Collections & Recovery Attorney in Warren, OH to lead legal strategies for consumer, real estate, and commercial lending recoveries. You will manage litigation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, and related matters while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

The role requires a JD, active Ohio license, and 3–5 years of creditor representation, with leadership responsibilities guiding support staff and cross-department collaboration.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• Active license to practice law in Ohio.
• Admission to US District Court and US Bankruptcy Court for N. District of Ohio, or ability to obtain promptly.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigation, bankruptcy, probate, foreclosure, repossession and related collection matters for the Credit Union.
• Prepare, file, and oversee collection actions including complaints, judgments, garnishments, and cognovit actions.
• Negotiate settlements and resolutions with debtors and opposing counsel; represent the Credit Union in hearings and trials.
• Provide guidance to Legal Administrative Assistants, Recovery Specialists, and Bankruptcy/Probate Specialists.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state laws and CFPB creditor regulations; monitor legal developments.
• Draft and review pleadings, settlement agreements, and other collection-related documents.
