Job summary

Orange County's Federal Credit Union in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Loan Servicing and Collections Specialist to perform collection efforts on delinquent loans, mitigate losses, and maximize recoveries while upholding FDCPA, FCRA, and CFPB guidelines.

You will work in a call center environment, establishing payment plans and coordinating with other departments to maintain member goodwill and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• At least one year of relevant work experience in collections, recoveries, loan servicing, or financial institution required.
• Experience in customer relations, problem resolution, and error correction required.
• Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act. Reg B and Reg Z, bankruptcy procedures, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Collection Regulations/Guidance, delinquency activities, and financial counseling.
• Knowledge of Rees Levering, CA Uniform Financial Code, and other State or Federal regulations governing collections.

Responsibilities

• Contacts borrowers to identify the true cause of non-payment and to provide personalized loan repayment options.
• Establishes effective payment plans with promises to pay and follow-up on broken promises.
• Works in a call center environment handling inbound and outbound calls.
• Makes repossession recommendations and provides reinstatement/redemption requirements.
• Remains current with changes in laws and regulations and ensures compliance.
• Assists management in recovering deficiency balances with loan servicing staff and outside agencies.
• Maintains high level of member service and promotes credit union products and services.
