Job summary

The City of Hermitage is seeking a Collection System Operator in the Water Pollution Control Department. This role monitors control panels and adjusts valves, operates auxiliary equipment at pump stations, and uses high pressure water cleaning gear to maintain the collection system.

Candidates should have an associates degree or at least three years of related experience, with the ability to obtain a PA CDL Class B and PA DEP Class E license within one year.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 3+ years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of wastewater treatment operations and equipment maintenance.
• Valid PA CDL Class B license and PA DEP Class E wastewater license (or obtain within one year).

Responsibilities

• Monitor control panels and adjust valves to regulate flow.
• Operate auxiliary equipment connected with the collection system and pump stations.
• Operate high pressure water cleaning equipment and diagnose machinery issues.
• Maintain logs of operations and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Install or repair parts and clean or lubricate machinery components.
• Residency can be anywhere in Mercer County; some areas in Lawrence County and Ohio may be eligible.

The City of Hermitage is seeking a Collection System Operator in the Water Pollution Control Department. This position monitors control panels and adjusts valves, operates auxiliary apparatus connected with the collection system and pump stations; operates high pressure water cleaning equipment; diagnoses problems with machinery, equipment or collection facilities, maintains machines and equipment; installs new or repaired parts, cleans and lubricates parts of machinery, pumps and pump power units and maintains logs of operations. Qualifications include an associates degree, minimum three years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment operations and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate must possess a valid PA drivers license CDL, Class B and a PA DEP Class E, Subclassification wastewater collection license or obtain such license within one year of appointment (the city will assist with obtaining this license).

Starting hourly wage is $29.36, increasing to $31.30 after one year and then two wage increases per year for the following two years.
