Job summary

Merchants Bank seeks a detail-oriented Collateral Specialist for its Warehouse Lending team in Mt. Laurel, NJ. This onsite role manages physical collateral for mortgage originations, maintains the collateral vault integrity, and builds nationwide client relationships.

The position is strictly onsite, with no remote or hybrid options. You will log packages, perform quality checks, and support client inquiries while learning the Warehouse Lending System and handling allonges.

Qualifications

• Prior mortgage, banking, document custody, collateral management or related financial services experience preferred.

Looking for a role where your attention to detail directly impacts a nationally recognized lending operation? Merchants Bank is seeking a Collateral Specialist to join our Warehouse Lending team in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Our Warehouse Lending Division partners with mortgage bankers across the United States, providing the financing solutions that help keep the mortgage market moving. In this highly visible role, you'll manage the physical collateral that supports mortgage originations, maintain the integrity of our collateral vault, and build relationships with clients nationwide. Due to the hands-on nature of receiving, storing, reconciling, and shipping original loan documents, this position is fully onsite and not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

As a Collateral Specialist, Warehouse Lending, you will be able to do the following confidently and independently...

• Receive and log FEDEX and UPS incoming packages
• Quality Control collateral and mark accurately
• Respond to and assist clients with any questions or concerns timely
• Learn our Warehouse Lending System
• Prepare and endorse allonges
• Package Notes and place appropriately for pickup
• Reconcile the Vault weekly, to ensure information in Warehouse Lending System matches physical notes on site.
• Comply with all federal, state and local regulatory rules and regulations governing financial institutions, as well as all company policies and procedures.
• Assist with other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Collateral Manager.

Requirements

Success in this role requires...

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior mortgage, banking, document custody, collateral management, loan operations, or related financial services experience preferred.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a proven ability to perform highly accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently manage, track, and retrieve large volumes of physical and electronic documents.
• Ability to quickly and accurately alphabetize, organize, file, and locate loan files and collateral documents while maintaining strict quality standards.
• Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, research issues, and resolve exceptions with minimal oversight.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining accuracy.
• Dependable team player with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.

Pay Range

The total compensation pay range for new hires in Mt. Laurel, NJ is $21.00 - $23.00 per hour. This range includes a base pay, plus an annual discretionary bonus. The amount of any actual bonus may vary and is subject to individual and company performance. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate of total compensation for the position at the time of posting. Actual total compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
