Job summary

LEONA MICHIGAN EDUCATION GROUP seeks a dedicated special education teacher to support regular classroom instruction. You will provide direct SPED services, consult with general education teachers, and co-teach in core subjects to support students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities include developing IEP goals, collaborating on behavior plans, and participating in multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective services for students. This role emphasizes teamwork with families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and SPED certification, or Master’s degree with eligibility for SPED licensure.
• Successful SPED teaching experience preferred.
• Strong interviewing and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to SPED students in support of the general education teacher.
• Consult with general education teachers for planning adaptations and accommodations.
• Team teach with general education teachers across language arts, math, science and social studies.
• Assist in supervising volunteers and aides during curriculum adaptations and support.
• Assist with behavior intervention plans for students on the caseload.
• Consult on grading and evaluative measures for students on the caseload.
• Participate in child study teams and assist Evals/Intervention planning.
• Schedule and conduct IEPT meetings.
• Identify deficits and write IEP goals and transition plans.
• Work with MET for students referred for SPED services.
• Liaise with parents to encourage participation in services.
