Job summary

Birch Family Services is seeking a Special Education Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for school-age students with disabilities in a collaborative, innovative setting.

The role requires NYS Certification in Special Education and a BA or Master’s degree; experience with special needs students is preferred. You will lead the classroom team, organize materials and data-driven goals, and communicate progress to families and staff.

Qualifications

• New York State Certification in Special Education for Students with Disabilities, Grades 1-6 or 7-12, Initial or Professional.
• BA or Master’s degree in Education or related field.
• CPR/First Aid, SCIP, CPI, Choking Prevention training.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities for school-age students with disabilities.
• Serve as a collaborative leader of the classroom team and guide staff instructional techniques.
• Organize classroom environment, materials, and schedules to maximize learning.
• Use assessment tools and ongoing data collection to set goals and measure performance.
• Attend required meetings and communicate with families and staff.
