Job summary

Pelham Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The role focuses on providing specially designed instruction and case management for students with disabilities, in collaboration with general education staff and families.

Responsibilities include developing and monitoring IEPs, data-driven instruction, and coordinating with related service providers to ensure access to the curriculum and supports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Moderate Disabilities, PreK–8, or another license appropriate for the assignment.
• Sheltered English Immersion endorsement or the ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.
• Knowledge of federal and Massachusetts special education laws and regulations.
• Experience developing and implementing standards-aligned IEPs.
• Ability to provide differentiated, evidence-based instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and case-management skills.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and student-centered educational practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in inclusive, small-group, and individual settings.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs that reflect students’ strengths and needs.
• Serve as case manager for assigned students and maintain accurate and timely special education documentation.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and support access to the general curriculum.
• Collect and analyze academic, behavioral, and social-emotional data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
• Participate in IEP Team meetings, student-support meetings, and collaborative planning processes.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and programming.
• Coordinate services with related service providers, specialists, and paraeducators as appropriate.
• Support the implementation of positive behavioral interventions and inclusive classroom practices.
