Job summary

The position reports to the Director of Physical Sciences Licensing and may be titled Associate or Assistant Director of Licensing. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in academic research commercialization, startups, or venture funds.
• Ability to interact across academic and corporate cultures; strong negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with WAVE Ventures to facilitate new company creation and license negotiations with startups.
• Interface with U-M entrepreneurship programs and the startup ecosystem.
• Engage with investors and industry partners to accelerate licensing and market entry.
• Oversee IP strategy, including filing and managing patent applications where applicable.
