Job summary

Green Top Farms in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Commis Chef to join a refrigerated production team. You will assist with high-volume cold food preparation and assembly, following standardized recipes and ensuring food safety in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Certified in NY Food Handler’s Certificate/Card.
• Ability to work in refrigerated rooms for extended periods.
• 1+ year of high-volume food prep, packaging, or kitchen production experience.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Able to stand long periods and lift 50+ lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble cold food items following standardized recipes.
• Wash, clean, chop, and portion ingredients for large-scale production.
• Execute recipes with consistency and presentation standards.
• Support cold line production and packaging operations.
• Follow daily production plans and maintain speed and accuracy.
• Meet production timelines and output goals.
• Adhere to food safety regulations, GMPs, and sanitation standards.
• Maintain personal hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Ensure temperature control and safe handling of perishables.
• Set up and break down workstations with required tools.
• Keep stations clean, organized, stocked.
• Follow proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team and leadership.
• Support workflow and assist with production challenges.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative attitude.
