Job summary

DTE Energy's EES Coke Operations in River Rouge, MI seeks a seasoned engineer to support cokemaking processes, engage with plant personnel, manage projects to improve operations, and coordinate communications across the site.

You will lead scope and budgets for plant projects, oversee field execution, troubleshoot equipment issues, document changes, and build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners. A BS in Engineering and 5+ years in heavy industry are required.

Qualifications

• ABET/EAC accredited B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of engineering experience in coke or heavy industrial setting

Responsibilities

• Understand cokemaking process including receipt and conversion of raw materials
• Understand equipment function and engineering principles of critical units
• Develop scope and budget for plant projects coordinating with consultants/engineers
• Oversee execution of project work and process changes in the field with personnel/contractors
• Facilitate troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment failures
• Document process changes and repairs for startup and future reference
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with onsite and external entities
• Coordinate with onsite lab for material quality monitoring and troubleshooting
• Ensure safe plant activities in line with expectations
• Facilitate customer communications with product quality reporting and site visits
